Why connect Zoom to EchoVideo?
Connecting Zoom to your EchoVideo library allows you to automatically route your Zoom meeting recordings into your EchoVideo library or an class that you teach. This is great for storage purposes, but these meetings would then show in the course view within the EchoVideo menu in Canvas for students, with all the added benefits of EchoVideo like Q&A, transcripts, and convenience of access through the Canvas Nav menu. Additionally, Zoom recordings expire after 30 days but if they go into an EchoVideo library/class through this method then it will be kept "alive" in EchoVideo.
How does it work?
This method will allow cloud recordings taken in Zoom to automatically be copied and stored within your Echo library or course. This is ideal, as Zoom cloud recordings expire after 30 days, while content stored in EchoVideo does not expire. Additionally, if you assign recordings to a course, your students will conveniently see the video in their Echo360 Canvas menu.
Step 1
Login to Cardinal Apps and click on the EchoVideo tile
Alternatively, you may open Canvas and click on your Echo360 nav menu item in your Canvas course
Step 2
Click on the gear icon in the upper right, then select Account Settings.
Step 3
Click on Zoom, found on the left side of the page, to open the Zoom menu
Step 4
Flip the 'Automatically copy Zoom recordings to Echo360' switch to start syncing your Zoom meetings to your Echo library. This is turned on when the circle is on the right side of the switch.
Step 5
Here, you can view every Zoom meeting that you currently have scheduled on your account. Next to the meeting name, under the 'Echo360 Section' column, you can select where in Echo360 that Zoom meeting recording will go.
The default is 'Library Only' which routes the Zoom meeting recording to your Echo library. Nobody can see it there, except you. To route a Zoom recording to a course in Echo, choose the appropriate course from the dropdown menu.
Step 6
Click Save () button to complete the process.
Troubleshooting
If you're having issues when finding and mapping your Zoom meetings, consider the following:
- If you do not see your Echo360 course in the dropdown menu, that means you aren't an instructor listed in the course from Echo's point of view. Contact the course instructor.
- If you do not see a scheduled Zoom meeting, make sure it is scheduled on/by/with your Zoom account and try refreshing the page.
