How to connect EchoVideo to your Canvas course
Why connect EchoVideo to Canvas?
This integration allows instructors to easily deliver and manage course materials, including recorded lectures, within the familiar Canvas environment. If your course uses EchoVideo to record and share content, this process will walk you through the first-time setup required to share lecture captures with students. Additionally, it promotes active learning and facilitates content accessibility, providing course participants with a one-stop-shop to view recorded lectures or Echo-shared content.
Step 1
Login to Cardinal Apps and open Canvas LMS
Step 2
Navigate to the course you'll be using EchoVideo with and click on the 'EchoVideo' icon in the course navigation menu.
Don't see the 'EchoVideo' option?
Open your course settings and click on the 'Navigation' tab toward the top. Find EchoVideo on the bottom set of tiles, then, drag and drop the EchoVideo tile to the upper area to place it in your navigation menu.
Click the Save button () when you're finished.
Step 3
Upon first opening the EchoVideo menu, you'll be asked to select the term your course takes place in.
- Click the 'Term' box to see the available terms
-
Select a term your course will be taking part in
- These options will change over time.
The 'Anytime' term should only be used for non-traditional Canvas courses such as support courses and sandboxes.
Step 4
Click the 'Create Echo360 section' button to complete the link between Echo and your Canvas course.
Done! Both you and your course participants will be able to access class recordings and any content shared through EchoVideo via this menu item.
FAQ
I cannot find EchoVideo in my course navigation menu or through my course settings...
EchoVideo is only available to the Health Profession Schools (HPS) and will not show up in Canvas courses outside these sites. If you have further questions on this, contact a Software Specialist.
How many times do I need to repeat this?
This process links EchoVideo and a single Canvas course and must be done for each course you plan to use EchoVideo with.
Will students be able to see what I see in this EchoVideo menu?
No. When a student opens the EchoVideo menu from Canvas, they will see their library content and course videos from a student's perspective. This means, they will not be able to edit the content shown on the class video list, or, see the same courses and content you necessarily see.
I'm getting an error or the EchoVideo tab will not load
You might be using Safari or FireFox to view content. Please, try using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
