Add BryteWave Course Materials via Modules
Adding the BryteWave link directly to a module places it alongside related course content, helping students access materials exactly when they need them. This reduces confusion and supports a more guided learning experience.
-
Log in to Cardinal Apps and open Canvas LMS
- On the left-hand menu, select “Courses”. Then select the course you want to add BryteWave course materials to.
- In the course menu, select “Modules”.
- Select the “+” button next to the module which will contain the BryteWave Course Materials tool.
- Select "External Tool" in the drop-down at the top of the pop-up.
- Select the “BryteWave Deep Link” Tool.
- Select “RedShelf (My Course)", then rename the link to “BryteWave Course Materials” in the Link Name box.
- Select “Create Link”.
- Check the box for "Load in a new tab".
- Select “Add Item” to finish adding the BryteWave Item to the module.
Add BryteWave Course Materials via the Navigation Menu
Placing the BryteWave link in the course navigation keeps it accessible at all times, which is helpful for students who want quick, repeated access to their course materials without digging through modules.
- Log in to Cardinal Apps and open Canvas LMS
- On the left-hand menu, select “Courses”. Then select the course you want to add BryteWave course materials to.
- Open Settings
- Select Navigation
- Find "BryteWave Course Materials" in the bottom area of choices, and drag it to the top.
- Save the changes
Completing these steps will add the “BryteWave Course Materials” link to your course navigation, making it visible to students. Be sure to coordinate with the UIW Bookstore and the publisher to ensure your materials are properly linked in Canvas.
Important: Due to restrictions on how BryteWave menu works, you might not have the option to impersonate a student experience or may experience an error if the "View as Student" button is used in Canvas. The professor and student experience are the same.
