Respondus LockDown Browser FAQ
How can I prepare my students for a quiz with the LockDown Browser enabled?
Practice Makes Perfect: Encourage students to take practice quizzes! You can direct them to the Learning with Canvas course practice quizzes; it's recommended that the instructor create their practice quiz so that students can experience the quiz with your preferred RLDB settings. This helps students get familiar with LockDown Browser and allows technical support agents to work with students if needed, reducing test anxiety.
Additionally, Respondus offers some quick start guides to provide to your students based on the type of quiz being used. Note, that students are unable to see a difference in quiz types in Canvas. Instructors can tell the difference based on the icon colors (white for Classic, green for New) and the Build button that is only available with New Quizzes.
What is Respondus Monitor?
Respondus Monitor is the remote proctoring feature that can be enabled on top of the LockDown Browser. This setting requires that students use a webcam to record themselves during an online exam. Afterward, flagged events and proctoring results are available to the instructor for further review. Learn more about fully automated proctoring with Respondus Monitor.
How do I disable the LockDown Browser on a quiz?

Does it matter if I am using New or Classic Quizzes in Canvas?
The process to enable the LockDown Browser does not change based on the type of quiz you use. Reference the appropriate quick-start guides below:
Classic Quizzes
New Quizzes
Remember to set clear expectations. Students can't tell the difference between Classic Quizzes and New Quizzes. Only instructors can... ensure your course instructions guide students based on which quiz type you're using. Having students take a practice quiz can avoid issues.
