Edit a StudyMate Project
When you're working on your StudyMate project, you can add three types of content: Facts, Definitions, and Questions. You can enter the information manually or import it from an external source. Depending on the type of content you add, you will get different activity options. To add content, simply click on the "Edit" button located next to your project.

Add Facts to a Project
Facts represent objective information about the content you want to cover. Activities that course participants can use with Facts include Fact Cards, Fact Cards Plus, and 'Show All' Flashcards. Within the editing menu of a project:
- Select the Facts tab and choose Add Fact.
- Enter the fact: You may include a photo by using the camera icon or associate your fact with a topic by using the Add Topic option.
- Select Save + Add More or just click Save to stop adding more.

Add Definitions to a Project
Definitions typically clarify the essential characteristics or features of the thing being defined, helping course participants understand its nature or purpose. Activities that course participants can use with Definitions include Flash Cards, Fill-in-the-Blank, Matching, Pick a Letter, Crosswords, Glossary, and 'Show All' Flashcards. Within the editing menu of a project:
- Select the Definitions tab and click Add Definition.
- Enter a term for your definition.
- Define your Term.
- Select Save + Add More or just click Save to stop adding more.

Add Questions to a Project
Questions allow you to add one or more incorrect or correct variations on a term or topic. This may be beneficial for participants to truly understand how to distinguish the topic from near-identical terms or definitions. Activities that course participants can use with Questions include Quizzes, Challenges (Jeopardy-like study activity), and 'Show All' Flashcards. Within the editing menu of a project:
- Select Add Question.
- Provide your Question.
- Enter either multiple-choice or single-answer choices for your question: You may include a photo by using the camera icon or associate your fact with a topic by using the Add Topic option.
- Select Save + Add More or just click Save to stop adding more.

Make StudyMate Projects Available to Course Participants
Once you have collected and organized all the necessary facts, definitions, and questions for your projects, there are two ways to share them with your students. You can either share a URL or make the project available in the StudyMate Canvas menu. It is important to note that if you choose to share a URL, students will participate anonymously and you will not be able to track their usage of the activity. To keep track of who is using your StudyMate projects, it is recommended to use the 'Make Available in Course' option.
Sharing a Project with a URL
- Open the StudyMate menu.
- Select the arrow icon next to 'Study'.
- Select Share.
- Select 'Copy URL' or choose 'Send via Email'.

Sharing a Project with the Make Available in the Course Option
When you share a project through the 'Make Available in the Course' option, students will see the project on their StudyMate dashboard when they open the StudyMate menu. To share a project with this method:
- Open the StudyMate menu.
- Select the arrow icon next to 'Study'.
- Select Make Available in Course.
- Your project will display a green star
to indicate it's now showing for course participants.

StudyMate FAQ
I am unsure about which activities will work. Are there examples?
StudyMate has sample activities available for you to experience
Can flashcards and activities be transferred or taken to another course?
Activities and their details do not transfer automatically between courses, nor are they stored in a central location accessible by StudyMate for all courses a participant is enrolled in. The only way to view and interact with your content outside of Canvas, even after a course has ended, is by using a sharing link to share and follow activities.
What if I have my facts, questions, or definitions elsewhere in another document, can I import them?
Yes. To mass import categories on StudyMate, you can copy and paste the content. To import facts, go to the Edit menu of your project and select the Import button in the upper right corner. Then follow the instructions for each category type to import the facts accordingly.

Can course participants see my or other participants' projects?
No. StudyMate projects can only be viewed by their creators. If you want to share them with others, you'll need to give them access explicitly.
Where can I get more help with StudyMate?
Within the StudyMate application, you can view tutorial videos within the About StudyMate menu, or directly on the Respondus website.
