How to add UIW-only permissions to a Folder/File
Introduction
Files or videos stored in OneDrive are private and only available to the owner, unless the content is shared. Specifically, video content can be shared in two ways: Sharing links and embed code. If you plan on using embed code, you'll need to first provide the appropriate permissions to the folder/file. This guide will teach you how to grant access to a folder/file to all UIW members, with just a few clicks.
Are you embedding OneDrive/Stream content into Canvas?
Step 1
Login to Cardinal Apps and open OneDrive
Step 2
Click on 'My Files' and locate the folder/file you'd like to provide access to. Hove over the folder/file and click the three dots.
Step 3
Select 'Manage access' from the drop down menu
Step 4
Click the 'Grant Access' button (), found toward the upper right of the window.
Step 5
Uncheck the 'Notify people' box. It is extremely important this is done.
Step 6
Click on the icon next to the entry field and choose the type of access you want for your folder/file. 'Can edit' will allow users to edit the content, while 'Can view' will provide view-only access.
Step 7
Type in "Everyone except external users" and choose the single option that appears.
Step 8
Once your 'Grant access' panel is configured, and the 'Notify people' box is unchecked, click Grant access.
What's next?
- If you had people receiving a 'Request Access' error to the file, they'll now be able to view the file. If you went through this process for a folder, all content within the folder will have this same permission so you don't have to repeat for each file.
