Connect to FortiGate VPN
Need to install the VPN Client?

Send a request to the HelpDesk justifying the need for VPN.
- Moving forward, VPN access will have to be approved based on usage. Only certain Apps require VPN when working from home.
- Please email helpdesk@uiwtx.edu with the following information:
- Do you work from home?
- What apps do you use that require VPN for remote access?
- UNINSTALL the Cisco AnyConnect VPN
After access has been granted:
Follow the steps below to install the FortiGate VPN.
If on a Mac, Final Permission steps need to be completed and are available at the end of the document.

If admin credentials are needed to uninstall Cisco and install Fortigate, please contact the HelpDesk at 210-829-2721.
Step 1: Click on the link below to access the installation site.
Step 2: Choose your Operating System
- Ensure that it is the FortiClient VPN-only download
Step 3: Complete the Form and Install the Client
- Reselection of the Operating System may be required.
- Local Administrator Credentials may be required
Step 4: Open FortiClient VPN and click I accept
Step 4: Configure the Client
- Match the Configuration below, then click "Save".
Configure the client with the following settings:
- VPN: SSL-VPN
- Connection Name: UIW
- Description: LEAVE BLANK
- Remote Gateway: connect.uiwtx.edu
- Customize port: Select the Check Box and enter 10443
- Single Sign On Settings: Select the Check Box
Step 5: Connect!!
- Click “Connect” to establish the VPN connection.
- Enter credentials for MFA authentication.
- Complete MFA authentication.
You should now be connected to the UIW network.
FOR A MAC:
After the installation completes, you will need to modify permissions.
Step 1: Click Open System Settings
Step 2: Click Allow
Step 3: Click the Toggle into the On Position
