StudyMate Considerations
StudyMate supports vocabulary development, concept reinforcement, exam preparation, and flexible study practices like active recall and self-assessment. Instructors can use it for unit reviews, vocabulary drills, or as a supplemental study tool.
- Instruction guides and videos are offered when you open StudyMate.
- Student-created activities are not visible to the entire class but can be shared using the share link.
- Instructor-created activities must be marked Make Available In Course for students to see them.
- Instructor projects can be made available in any Canvas course, but usage statistics are unique to course enrollments.
- Assignments with StudyMate as an external tool are connected to all projects available in the course. Specify the ones you want students to use in the instructions according to your expectations.
- Assignments will not display student analytics in Speedgrader, and instructors must check student usage in StudyMate and mark grades accordingly.
- Rubrics are effective tools for grading with StudyMate to explain how usage activity will translate to a grade.
- Deleting a project in StudyMate permanently removes all associated usage statistics.
