How to upload a video to Microsoft Stream
Method 1
Step 1
Head to Cardinal Apps and click on the Stream app, found within the Office 365 Apps tab
Step 2
Find and click on the upload button in the upper left of the Stream page. Alternatively, you may drag and drop your video file to this general area to start the upload. If you chose the drag and drop method, skip to step 4.
If you don't have a video to upload, you can click on the '+ New recording' button to record yourself or your screen and upload directly into Stream.
Step 3
You'll be asked to locate the video file on your computer that you'd like to upload to Stream. Locate the video file you'd like to upload and click the 'Open' button in your file window to continue.
The image above depicts a Windows environment, but the process of looking for a file on a Mac is the same, including the 'Open' button.
Step 4
You might see a small pop-up message with the status 'Uploading to OneDrive'. Depending on how large your video file is, the upload process could range from seconds to several minutes.
Step 5
Once your upload is complete, you'll be taken directly to the Stream video player. Congratulations, your video has been uploaded and can be shared and configured with a variety of built-in settings through the 'Video Settings' panel. Videos uploaded through the Stream Web App can be found on the home page of your OneDrive.
Many of the features found in Classic Stream are now conveniently available in the New Stream video player.
Method 2
Uploading through OneDrive or SharePoint
Step 1a
Head to Cardinal Apps and click on the OneDrive app, found within the Office 365 Apps tab. If you store videos in a SharePoint site, open SharePoint.
SharePoint is where Teams store files shared within the Teams app.
Step 2a
You may drag and drop a video file into this OneDrive window to upload or click on Add New and choose 'Files upload'.
Step 3a
Once you've selected (or dragged and dropped) your video file, you'll find it one the OneDrive page you're currently on.
Video files can now be denoted by the square icon with a pink triangle within them.
Step 4

FAQ
Is there a difference between these two upload methods?
There is no functional difference between these two methods and they are two ways to achieve the same result, which is to upload a video so it benefits from the Microsoft Stream platform. All video player and sharing features are available when viewing a video through both methods. When viewing a video in OneDrive, you may click on the pink 'Open' button in the upper left > 'Open in Stream' to view the video in a cleaner interface.
I uploaded my video from the Stream web app (Method 1)... Where can I find this video file now that it's uploaded?
All videos uploaded via the Stream Web App can be found in your OneDrive's starting page (home page).
Can I change the location of a video file uploaded through the Stream web app?
You may change the location only after the video is uploaded. If you upload through the Stream web app (Method 1) then on the video player page, you can click on the Video name in the upper left and view the location of the uploaded video. Click on the > icon to select a new location for your video.
Can I change the default location of uploaded content in the Stream web app?
That feature is not currently available.
