Stream is a Microsoft video app that makes creating, sharing, and watching videos seamless at UIW. Whether you’re teaching in Canvas, sending an email in Outlook, or collaborating in MS Teams and SharePoint, Stream offers a robust toolkit. Stream offers 15 minutes to camera or screen record and generates a transcript to easily add captions. You can elevate video engagement with Microsoft Forms interactivity, use viewing analytics for insight into students’ interactions with your video content, and utilize comments or video reactions anywhere along the timeline to identify areas of interest. Stream also alleviates Canvas video storage limitations and improves students' viewing experience when leveraged with the OneDrive app in Canvas courses.

Stream is available to everyone in the UIW community with access to Microsoft 365 applications in Cardinal Apps.

Stream works for any video file saved in OneDrive or SharePoint.

Stream is a web application and performance is impacted by the browser you use to access it.
For the best possible experience, use Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome. If you encounter unexpected behaviors, clear your browsing history or change browsers.
When sharing videos, use best file-sharing practices to ensure your videos are shared with the right people.
If teaching courses in Canvas, embed videos using the OneDrive app in Canvas. The OneDrive app handles sharing permissions for you, making this a one-step option.
Students use the OneDrive for Students app to share content or submit work.

How do I troubleshoot web app issues?

From website functions not working properly to pages or embeds failing to load and even strange formatting problems, odd behaviors can often be resolved by clearing your browser cache and history. Occasionally, Microsoft features may not work as expected until the company rolls out updates to fix issues. If clearing the browser, switching browsers, and restarting your computer does not solve your problem, report the issue to the UIW Help Desk.

Can I livestream an event with Stream?

No, live streaming is not currently supported. Consider scheduling a town hall in Microsoft Teams.

What video formats work with Stream?

Although you can play and upload most audio and video file types with Stream and across Microsoft 365, reference Microsoft’s supported audio and video formats list.

How do I share a video with people outside of UIW?

You can share videos with anyone for files saved in your personal OneDrive. Video files shared from MS Teams and SharePoint require UIW credentials for viewing unless the owner manages settings for external file sharing.
